30 Seconds To Mars—Kings And Queens
Really should’ve reblogged this before I Miss You, but oh well. One word really stands out here: ‘powerful’.
Boyce Avenue & Cobus Potgieter—I Miss You (Originally by Blink-182)
While the cover isn’t what I’d call typical Cobus, it is a collaboration, and the drums remain classy throughout without detracting from a beautiful vocal part by Boyce Avenue’s Alejandro Manzano. One could argue that the drums and vocals are a little upbeat for a song which, in its original iteration, is rather sober; such criticism is valid, but I happen to love both versions for different reasons. The fill at 2:48 in the cover is just plain sexy, while I prefer Mark’s original, deeper vocal part. And I’m sorry if you’re a Blink fan—even more so than usual, since you’ve waded through this wall of mediocre text—but Tom’s singing in the original is something I’d gladly replace with Alejandro’s voice. His tone just isn’t sensitive enough for the lyrics and melody… or perhaps I just find his voice grating. *Please don’t kill me*
Cobus - Red - Mystery of You (Drum Cover)
I can do this. I can’t do it as well as Cobus can, no where near, but I’m getting there. :)
Chumbawumba— Tubthumping
The description on youtube doesn’t quite do it justice; this is honestly one of his best just for the sheer musicality of his playing. Listen out for a ridiculously sexy pre-chorus groove.
Jonas Brothers— Burnin’ Up
Just… watch the intro. Then pause; take a minute to reinsert your jaw before resuming playback. Thank you, and have a nice day.
Smash Mouth— All-Star
Red bull in that cup? Pull the other one… I don’t know what it is, but I suspect this mystical elixir is the secret to Cobus’s badass badassery… that, or being awesome’s just an integral part of his being. You know.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus— Face Down
Had to post this sooner or later;

…this is the cover that started it all. His most views, at least until he smashed A7x’s Afterlife— basic but solid beat that suddenly turns rather Cobus-y with some very nice hi-hat work, and it’s all uphill from there. Watch for an epic stick flip, some incredible single-pedal footwork and some ridiculous arm-flailing towards the end that would be funny, were it not so utterly badass.
Cobus, covering his own original song. For those of you disappointed in the original ‘Heroes’, drums are definitely the focus this time round. Enjoy, stay awesome.
